Drink Draw Thursday
I was sketching at Kushi Bar last night in Seattle with some fellow artists I met at Anomaly last weekend. Thanks for the invite Scholes! It was mainly comprised of artists from Arenanet (Katy, James, Danny, Dave, Matt, and Kekai)... I think Tom and Tiffany freelances.. but i invited my friend, Dave, who's also a concept artist working at Gryptonite and he brought his friend Mike from Moonshot... so it was a good mix... otherwise i'd be the odd one out. here were the sketches from last night. I started a large moleskine as i had run out of the small ones... seemed like it took forever to fill a page... :P

my first book!...
debuted @ Canzine West: Broken Pencil - a zine show for independently published books. thanks to Shiu for helping me out with printing and the business cards. The whole process took about 3-4 days. printing 1 day. stitch binding 1 day. cutting/cropping 1/2 day. and putting on the cover.. 1 day.
I planned on making it a hard cover.. but due to lack of experimentation and time constraints.. i decided to go with the soft - the paper i used were just shy of a few centimeters for the hardcover. the book defintely has a DIY-feel to it as the edges of the pages were hacked at with my razor blade. but thought it added to the charm. the book is a compilation of sketches from my NY sketchbook when i was visiting my sister after my UK trip.
I haven't decided to put this up for sale on the web yet.. as i have yet to setup some sort of online payment thing AND i probably dont have enough copies made yet to be selling them on the web... but if you are interested shoot an email my way.

in the UK!
my first post since arriving in the UK. weather-wise... I'd say it's kind of like Vancouver, so nothing out of the ordinary. didn't take that many pictures but here are a couple I liked more than others... I did however meet the guy that runs the London sketchgroup by coincidence at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Lee was drawing one of the many statues there at the museum.. I asked him if he's heard of the Sketchcrawl.. and he said "yes, I organized it"... I was like AWESOME! by any chance, have you heard of a local Sketchgroup?" and then he said " yes. I run that every other week." I couldn't have been more happy b/c i was looking for a sketchgroup online but apparently there was another one in London before Lee, but was disbanded? or the guy that ran it left the UK.. so i was pretty much planning on sketching it out alone. anyway. I have been sketching at the local coffee shops.. haven't had time to scan or take pics of them yet.. but will probably have an update later on with just sketches from the sketchbook.
Cheerio!

back to Sketchgroup
it's been a while since my last post. been pretty busy tying up loose ends before i head on my drawing expedition of the UK&NY. Really hope the flights have resumed from what's going on in Iceland in a week from now ><. Seems like everyone's going somewhere this summer so it'd be interesting to see everyone's sketchbooks when we return!
